Background:

The school was built in 1968 and is situated in a rural area within 10 miles of Cardiff. The building was originally designed as open-plan, but now has enclosed classrooms to enable the school to teach in a quiet atmosphere. Group, class and team teaching methods are all employed as required. A full curriculum is taught, including swimming in the school's own swimming pool which was built as a result of fundraising by parents, staff and the parent-teacher association. The school also has a fully-equipped computer suite where it employs whole class teaching of ICT. A wide variety of sports is taught after school, such as cross-country, netball, basketball, rugby, football, baseball and cricket. It has a very good sporting record locally and a number of past pupils have gained Welsh Caps in a variety of sports. The school is also proud of its excellent recorder group and choir. Every year, the whole school takes part in charity fundraising, with the emphasis on local. 'We like to think that all our pupils are ready to help others who are more in need than themselves'.
